Friday’s men’s roundup: Philly freshmen Zachary (Vermont), Creighton (Malvern Prep) help their team earn wins

Freshman Ahmad Zachary (Lower Merion) had two goals and an assist to lead visiting Vermont to a 9-6 victory Friday of the Air Force Academy Friday in men’s college lacrosse in Colorado Springs.

Zachary knotted the game at 3-3 with his second goal of the season and he then fed sophomore Drew Philie for a goal that gave UVM (2-0) its first lead of the night just 1:18 into the second quarter. Sophomore Garrett Virtue and Zachary each added scores to extend the Catamounts’ lead to 6-3 at the half.

North Carolina 10, Navy 8

Freshman Ryan Creighton (Malvern Prep) scored once and scooped a groundball to help the No. 12 Tar Heels (2-1) edge the Mids.
