Tower Hill (DE) junior defensemen Stone Lieberman has committed to play Division 1 lacrosse at the University of Vermont.
Lieberman helped lead Tower Hill (14-3) to a stunning victory over defending champion Salesianum in the 2010 Delaware state championship game. Lieberman also plays club lacrosse for Edge USA.
“I wanted to go up North to a medium sized school and UVM offered all that,” said Lieberman.
Lieberman always had UVM at the top of his list going into the recruiting process.
“My visit went great. Coach (Ryan) Curtis was a great guy and I really like the way his program is going,” Lieberman said. “After meeting the team and seeing how well they bonded, I knew I wanted to be a part of that.”
Lieberman was an independent schools all-conference selection in 2010. He also made the Philly showcase Gait Fab 40 this past November. Lieberman, who also plays football and is on the wrestling team, made the honor roll last year.
Vermont is a member of the America East Conference.
Lieberman has high goals for the 2011 high school season.
“Our goal is simple – repeat as state champions,” he said. “We lost two All-Americans and some very good players form last year’s team, but we returned all three starting attackmen led by (Massachusetts signee) Chas Robino, and a core group of underclassmen. We should have a very good team.”
