United Sports Honor Roll: Unionville’s Haskell, Harriton’s McLaughlin, Strath Haven’s Kerrigan

This week’s United Sports Underclass Honor Roll:

Hannah Haskell, Unionville, junior midfielder

Off the Field:
Has a GPA of 4.26 (weighted) and has received Distinguished Honors the past two years. Is a member of the National Honors Society, the Spanish Honors Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. She is Co-Vice President of Habitat for Humanity and is a West Chester work site volunteer for the organization. She participates on Even Start Tutoring of Kennett Square where she does tutoring of basic
skills and second language acquisition. She is a member of the Women Empowered, does other volunteer work and was nominated for the National Youth Leadership Conference.

On the Field: She made second-team All-Ches-Mont last year and was second on the team in draw controls. Is a key for this year’s team, which is ranked No. 5 in the state.

Ally McLaughlin, Harriton, sophomore defender

Off the Field: Has a 5.0 GPA with all honors classes, is a member of the Robotics team (competed at World’s last year) and has had three Top 10 finishes in the Technology Student Association State Competition. She also helped do L.E.A.P.S. Clinics in Philadelphia last summer as a volunteer for new players.

On the Field:
Is second on the team in assists although primarily a defensive player. She leads the team in caused turnovers and is second in groundballs. She also ran an anchor leg on the Rams’ 4×800 meter relay team in indoor track that qualified for the Indoor Meet of Champions. She played both soccer and ran cross country in the fall and was within five seconds of qualifying for state in cross country.

Olivia Kerrigan, Strath Haven, junior goalie

Off the Field: Her GPA is 3.7 and she won the Central League Writing Competition in the sophomore division last year and placed third in the junior division this year. She takes mostly Honors and AP classes and is a leader of the school’s Central League Writing Team, Creative Writing Club, Diversity Training Club, and No Place for Hate Club, as well as a member of the Black and Silver Service Club and Student Council. Over the summer she was a leader in training (LIT) at YMCA Camp Tockwogh, a volunteer position where she taught sailing and lacrosse to fourth and fifth graders. She also is on the school’s Danceline and tutors middle school students, particularly eighth graders, in math.

On the Field: She shares time in goal for a team ranked No. 3 in the state and averages eight saves per game. She also played varsity basketball and is a cheerleader.
