Team Philly was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the adidas National Lacrosse Classic today when it fell to No. 2 seeded New Jersey, 7-4, at the Maryland Soccerplex in Boyds.

Kevin Gulyas (Allentown Central Catholic), Mike Leyden (Haverford High), and Christopher Vetter (Central Bucks East) each had one goal for Team Philly. The fourth goal was not reported.

Philadelphia, coached by Neshaminy’s Josh Hanlon, finished 3-2 in the 20-team tourney. The recruiting event drew more than 70 college coaches and featured over 500 of the top underclassmen lacrosse players in the country.

Meanwhile, No. 6 Maryland Prep (4-1) gained a bit a payback from a loss Wednesday, defeating No. 3 Central Pennsylvania, 6-3. Central Penn featured several Philly players.

An All-Star Game was played this afternoon. Philly rising senior attackman Colin Joka (Plymouth Whitemarsh, committed to Marist) was selected to play after scoring eight goals in round robin play Wednesday.

In the All-Star Game, Joka scored once for the Gold team in a 9-8 loss to the Black team. Also for the Gold, Rob Wertz (Manheim Township) scored once.
