Colleen O’Malley scored three goals and Anne Fosnocht led a solid team defense that held host Unionville to one second-half goal as Great Valley defeated the Indians, 9-5, tonight in a key Ches-Mont League girls’ lacrosse showdown.
The win kept the Patriots (8-0, 4-0) in first place while dropping the Indians (7-2) to 3-1 in the league. Unionville entered play ranked No. 4 in the PA Media Rankings while Great Valley was No. 6 in the PIAA and No. 7 for All-Teams.
Jess Nawojski added two goals and an assist for the Pats while Ali Karwoski scored two goals. Laura Bigelow and Sara McBride also scored and Jenna Morris made six saves.
“The girls did a great job playing as a team,” said Great Valley coach Joe Tornetta.
Lizzy Carney and Jill Murray scored two goals each for Unionville, which was outscored, 8-0, after taking a 4-1 lead.
