Scholastic boys’ roundup: Germantown Academy edges Abington, 10-9; Penncrest tops Radnor

Connor Crump and Beau Jones each scored three goals as visiting Germantown Academy toppled Abington, 10-9, Tuesday in a key non-league boys’ lacrosse game.

The win raised the Patriots’ mark to a perfect 3-0. Abington, ranked No. 9 in the state in the PA Media Lacrosse Rankings, fell to 1-1.

Greg Shildkrout and Nick Zaharchuk each added two goals for the Pats, who got solid goaltending from Steve Oppenheimer.

Matt Lomady, Matt Rambo, Joey Jones and Ryan Ambler each scored twice for Abington.

Tuesday’s girls’ summaries

Penncrest 11, Radnor 6

Andrew Caldwell had five goals and an assist and Tom Kelly contributed three goals and two assists to spark the Lions in the Central League win.

Ben Junior led the Red Raiders with two goals.

Springfield-Delco 9, Lower Moreland 7

Colin Keegan netted four goals and added two assists to lead the Cougars in the Central League. Andrew Mongeluzzi led the Aces with five goals.

Upper Darby 13, Harriton 2

J.J. Maloney had four goals and an assist and Andy Mardinley collected three goals and three assists while Dylan Burke made 13 saves to pace the Royals.

Strath Haven 13, Haverford High 8

Mark Dolphin pumped in a school-record eight goals and Steve Brodeur made 11 saves in three solid quarters in the goal to help the Panthers.

Mike Lyden and Kyle Killorian each scored twice for the Fords

Conestoga 10, Garnet Valley 5

Billy Flatley scored three goals and Brian Dailey added a pair as the Pioneers erupted after falling behind, 3-2, in the first period.

Jules Raucci led the Jaguars with two goals

Ridley 11, Marple Newtown 3

Eric Streicher had three goals and Dale Smith added two for the Green Raiders.

La Salle 19, Archbishop Wood 7

Joe Brown and Alex Lynn each netted four goals and Steve Kelly scored three to pace the Explorers.

Pennsbury 14, Henderson 8

Kenneth Warren collected three goals and three assists while Ricky Jutkiewicz and Josh Caven had three goals each to pace the Falcons.

Max Siskind and Ethan Heisman each scored three goals for the Warriors.

Hatboro Horsham 12, North Penn 1

Robert Nagel tallied three goals and Dino Vitale made 10 saves to help the Hatters roll.

Upper Merion 16, Norristown 3

Trevor Kupecky had two goals and seven assists, Wes McDowell had four goals and two assists and Luke Minnich added four goals and an assist while John Widmaier had three goals and one assist to lead the Vikings.

Upper Dublin 20, Springfield-Montco 5

Willy Beury had five goals and four assists, Jake Long had five goals and three assists and Andy Lunney netted four goals to lead the Cards.

Boyertown 20, St. Pius X 0

Matt Salvetti poured in seven goals and three assists and Greg Liptak added four goals as the Bears spoiled the PAC-10 debut of St. Pius X.

Devon Prep 5, Delco Christian 4

Pete Delong had two goals and Quinn White had a goal and two assists to lead the Tide in its opener. Pat Robbins and Rob Bildner also scored once each for Devon and goalie Zach Chunglo had 12 saves.

Kennett 12, Interboro 4

Turner Simon scored three goals to lead the Blue Demons Brian Van Wyk, Vince Latham, Jordan Graham and Hunter Jackalous each scored for the Bucs.

Bishop Shanahan 9, Servite (CA) 1

Mike Thompson and Keegan Lawton each had three goals and Jake Farrell led the defense with seven ground balls.

Servite (3-8), from Anaheim, Calif., is coached by Avon Grove graduate Kevin Wallace.

Downingtown West 15, Neshaminy 2

Brad Schenberger and Ryan Higgins each netted four goals to lift the Whippets.
