Scholastic boys’ roundup: Emmaus tops Ridley; Radnor, Springfield-D cruise

Tate Klidonas scored five goals to spark host Emmaus to an 8-6 victory over Ridley Friday in a nn-league boys’ lacrosse opener.

Dan Kinek added two goals for the Green Hornets, ranked No. 4 in the Pennsylvania Media Lacrosse Rankings. The win also gave Emmaus coach Jef Hewlings a victory over his alma mater.

Tyler Johnston and Kyle Blakemore each had two goals for the Green Raiders while Dale Smith and Eric Streicher each scored once.

Radnor 9, Central Bucks West 3

Harrison Larwence collected three goals and an assist and Jeff Puckette had two goals and one assist while freshman goalie Brendan Manderack made seven saves and did not allow a goal for three periods of work to lead the Red Raiders to the easy win.

Tyler Murkley added a goal and two assists for Radnor while Spencer Lussier had two goals. Chris Dewey also scored once.

CB West scoring: Adamski 1g, Mann 1g, Firrilo 1g.

Springfield-Delco 11, Cardinal O’Hara 2

Joe Venit scored five goals and Colin Keegan added two goals and two assists to lead the Cougars to an easy victory

Josh Cavanaugh added a goal and an assist while Keith James, Jordan Demcher and Larry McLaughlin had one goal apiece and Austin Kaut made four saves in goal.

Downingtown West 11, Boyertown 8

Ryan Higgins and Scott Sciffert each scored three goals and Eric Sanders added two as the Whippets defeated the Bears.

Mike Goodrich added a goal and an assist while Connor Mullen and Mike Moore each scored once and Tyler McWilliam had one assist. Dustin Keen made seven saves.

Malvern Prep 7, Salesainum, DE 6

Mike Dougherty scored three goals as the Friars (2-1) defeated the defending Delaware state champions at Kelly Field in West Chester.

Goalie Andrew O’Connell had a solid for the Friars while Mark Jackson had a solid all-around game at midfield as Malvern Prep overcame a 4-3 deficit.

Holy Ghost Prep 11, Upper Dublin 10

Nick Moses had two goals and three assists and Jeremy Omrod had two goals and an assist to lead the Firebirds to a come-from-behind win over the Cardinals.

Colin Becker added two goals and John Motto had a goal and two assists for Ghost, which was down by several goals in the first half, Sam Johnson, Alex Iuliano, Andrew Cacchio and Kevin Moses each added one goal. Cacchio and Dan Wunder added assists.

Goalie Andrijko Andrusko made 10 saves for Holy Ghost and Shane Dacey, Chris Dumas and Rick Beebe paced the defense.

Pennsbury 6, Wissahickon 3

Kenneth Warren and Calvin Hopkins each scored two goals and Shawn Caven and Evan Caterson had one apiece to lead the Falcons to the win.

Ricky Jutkiewicz added two assists for the Falcons, who outshot Wissahickon, 25-11.

Garret Rosiek, Jeff Gebert and Steve Carrozza scored for the Trojans

Council Rock North 14, North Catholic 1

Chris Gifford had two goals and four assists and Dan Brenner scored three goals to pace the Indians.

Spring-Ford 12, Lower Merion 8

Drew Thomas had three goals and two assists and Jackson Ranheim added three goals as the Rams surprised the Aces.

Billy McCabe and Brian Bock each had two goals and one assist for Spring-Ford and goalie Jared Novia made 15 saves.

Andrew Mongeluzzi and Joey Shallow each scored three goals for Lower Merion.

Perkiomen Valley 14, Pennridge 6

Pete Sclafani scored six goals as the Vikings opened the season with a non-league victory over the Rams.

Methacton 11, Lansdale Catholic 5

Chris Germano and Kevin Peifer had three goals each as the Warriors claimed the victory over LC.

Penncrest 13, Unionville 10

Tom Kelly pumped in five goals and Andrew Caldwell had three to lead the Lions.

James Moss led the Indians with four goals.

Garnet Valley 8, Hatboro-Horsham 7

Eric Warden scored three goals and Mike Montella added a pair as the Jaguars toppled the Hatters.

Greg Cutilli and Eddie Coombs each scored twice for the Hatters. Ryan Kreston,, Kyle Schwarz and Jake Durkin each scored once. Dino Vitae made 13 saves in goal.

Neshaminy 14, Conwell-Egan 2

Keenan Skeels notched five goals and one assist, Chris Brady had four goals and two assists to lead the Falcons to the easy win.

James Rambo had two goals and four assists while Jimmy Roessner had two goals and two assists for Neshaminy. Alex McKenzie added one goal and Steve Lewallen had an assist while Eugene La Borde made four saves and Austin Msrshall had one.

CJ Slakoper scored twice for CEC and David Fairfield made 13 saves.

St. Joseph’s Prep 10, Downingtown East 4

Jeff Heath scored four goals as the Hawks earned a huge win over the Cougars.

Anthony Marini and Brad James each scored two goals and Cory Scheuerle and Tim O’Rourke each had one. Mike Zikoski had five saves in goal.

West Chester East 12, Owen J. Roberts 11

Matt Biegel erupoted for six goals and two assists as the Vijings defeated the Wildcats

Blair Bonner and Kevin Holleran each added two goals and two assists while Christian Haochstetler scored two goals and Kyle Owens 1 had an assist.

Kevin Greene made 10 saves for East and Tim Kulp played strong defense.
