Plymouth Whitemarsh’s Kaplan makes Faceoff Club’s National Rankings for face-off specialists

Plymouth Whitemarsh senior Shawn Kaplan has been named the 20th best boys’ scholastic face-off specialist in the FaceOff Club’s National Rankings.

The FaceOff Club offers tutorials and instruction on taking face-offs on its website. It also runs a full slate of nationwide summer camps and coaching clinics as well as the United States FaceOff Championship, the National Faceoff Combine and the collegiate faceoff camps.

Kaplan, who has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Ohio State, helped the Colonials finish 12-7 last year. He also plays for the Rebel Elite club team.

Four other Philly players were listed as Honorable Mention choices: Haverford School senior Liam O’Connor (signed with Notre Dame), Central Bucks East junior Sean Reilly (committed to Navy), Haverford School junior Joe McCallion (committed to Penn) and Spring-Ford senior Josh Sutterfield (committed to Division III Marymount).

The No. 1-ranked face-off specialist, Bridgton Academy (ME) senior Steve Knezick, also has signed with Ohio State.
