Bryant got the nod as the favorite for the first-year NEC in the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook preseason Coaches’ Poll.

The Bulldogs feature four-year starting defenseman Joe Rauchut (Penn Charter) and sophomore Mason Poli (Downingtown East), who made a major contribution last year as a reserve long pole and is being moved to close defense.

Robert Morris, rated No, 2, features sophomore defenseman Matt Ward (Great Valley). Ward made five starts last year.

Quinnipiac, ranked No. 3, is led by senior attackman Jack Oppenheimer (Germantown Academy), who led the Bobcats in goals with 32 last year.

The NEC – which also features Mount St. Marty’s, Sacred Heart and Wagner – will not earn an automatic qualifier for the NCAA tournament until at least 2013.
