US Lacrosse announced that the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association was one of 27 recipients of the 2010 US Lacrosse Chapter Grants.

The US Lacrosse Chapter Grant Program provides chapters with additional funding to assist in fulfilling the chapters’ needs and ultimately growing the sport of lacrosse in the chapters’ regions. Grants are awarded based on the number of applications submitted and the proposed use of the grants by the applying chapter.

This year, US Lacrosse awarded a combined total of $45,000 to 26 different chapters.

The Philadelphia chapter was awarded a grant to promote the growth of lacrosse in the inner city programs. The PLA has been instrumental in helping build the middle school and high school programs in the Public League.

Last year the Middle Grades program spawned a new high school league with six teams for both boys and girls. That league is expected to grow for 2011 by at least two more teams.
