Monday’s scholastic boys’ roundup: East tops HGP in overtime, Unionville, Avon Grove win in Chs-Mont

Matt Brodzik scored the game-winner in overtime off a feed from Rob Ferrell to lift host Central Bucks East to a 7-6 victory over Holy Ghost Prep Monday in non-league boys’ lacrosse action.

Brodzik led the Patriots (9-1) with two goals and two assists and Brian Urban added two goals and one assist while Alex Fetterman and Connor McSherry each had a goal and an assist.

East also got strong defensive play from Weston French, Parker Rushworth, Zac Bitzer, Kyle Andress and Ryan Andress.

Andrijko Andrusko was a standout in goal for Holy Ghost (8-2) with 20 saves.

Unionville 15, Bishop Shanahan 13

Mike Nowoswiat collected five goals and two assists and Billy Donovan had four goals as the Indians claimed the Ches-Mont League win.

Billy Donovan added four goals and Richard Kaiser had two goals and three assists for Unionville.

Keegan Lawton led the Eagles with four goals and an assist and Michael Thompson had four goals while Jim Stanley and Adam Makinski each had two goals and two assists.

Avon Grove 12, West Chester East 10

Trevor Hornby had three goals and two assists while Eric Waibel added two goals and one assist to pace the Devils to the Ches-Mont win..

Kyle Owens and Christian Hochstetler each scored twice for East.

Garnet Valley 16, Harriton 2

Mike Montella (five goals) scored his 100th career goal and Steve Smyrl added three goals as the Jaguars earned the Central League win.
