Owen J. Roberts senior defenseman Colin Blye has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Roanoke College.
Blye was a First Team Pioneer Athletic Conference pick last year for the Wildcats, who won their third straight league crown and finished 16-6.
Blye will play for coach Bill Pilat, who guided Roanoke to an 18-3 record and the Old Dominion championship last year.
“As soon as I went to the campus I really liked it,” Blye said. “I love the location and the fact they have a great history of good lacrosse. Coach Pilat helped make it a nice visit.”
Blye will join Malvern Prep defenseman Wes Pancoast as a Roanoke recruit. Blye plans to major in Environmental Science.
“My dad has had a big influence on me,” he said. “He is a chemist and I have grown up around that field (environmental studies).”
Blye plays club lacrosse for Mesa Fresh and formerly played for the Duke’s Lacrosse Club.
Blye is looking for Owen J. Roberts to win a fourth straight PAC-10 crown, and is confident some young players will fill the holes of graduated seniors. One senior, attackman Kohl Batdorf, has signed with Hobart.
“We’d like to win another PAC-10 championship,” he said. “Once again, Spring-Ford is good. They have a good attack unit and that will be a challenge.
“But we have a lot of good new players. I think we will be able to step up to the challenge and do well again this year.”
