La Salle senior Jill Davis (Ridley) has been named a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Second Team At-Large Academic All-American.
Davis is the first player in program history to earn Academic All-America distinction and is the third Explorer during the 2009-10 year to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American, joining Yves Mekongo (men’s’ basketball) and Gina Massaro (softball).
Davis is the only Atlantic 10 athlete to be honored on the team.
“I have always held very high expectations for myself on the field and in the classroom,” Davis said. “This honor really means a lot to me.”
Davis, who earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors, was also named the A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year in women’s lacrosse. A two-time Academic All-Atlantic 10 pick, she led the league with four game-winning goals and had a team best 40 goals, 14 assists and 54 points.
The co-captain helped the Explorers to program records for wins and conference victories along with a all-time best No. 2 seed in the 2010 Atlantic 10 Tournament. She graduated with a 4.0 grade point average as an elementary and special education major.
The Women’s At-Large team is comprised of student-athletes from the following sports: bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo. Student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 grade point average and sophomore standing.
