Beth Wheeler has been named the head coach for the Gwynedd Mercy College women’s team.
Wheeler served as an assistant coach the last three years at Kutztown University. A 2008 graduate of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy, Wheeler assisted with the re-launch of the Kutztown’s program and served under head coach Sarah Greer, a former assistant at Gwynedd Mercy.
Prior to her time at KU, Wheeler was an English teacher, as well as a field hockey and lacrosse coach at Saint James School in Maryland. She started her coaching career as an assistant lacrosse coach at Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke, Va., where her team competed in the SWVLA Championship.
Wheeler, a New Hampshire native, was a two-sport athlete at Roanoke College in Salem, Va. During her time at Roanoke, the lacrosse team had multiple Old Dominion Athletic Conference post-season appearances and Wheeler was a four-year starter and member of the 2002 ODAC Championship Field Hockey team.
During her college career Wheeler was a captain, Academic All-American, and All-Conference athlete.
Wheeler lives in Doylestown and is currently completing a Master’s level internship in the Counseling Department and is assistant field hockey coach at Council Rock High School South. She also was an assistant coach the past three years for the field hockey team at Kutztown.
