GMH Philadelphia defeats three-time defending champion NYAC to advance to ALL finals

GMH Philadelphia LC defeated the New York Athletic Club, 11-7, to win the American Lacrosse League (ALL) Blue Conference Championship Sunday at Woburn High in Woburn, Mass.

GMH Philadelphia will play Baltimore champion DeWalt LC on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Catonsville High School (MD) for the ALL championship.

GMH Philadelphia jumped out to a 4-1 first-period lead against NYAC and led 7-2 at halftime. The teams traded goals in the third quarter, the three-time defending ALL champions rallied in the fourth quarter.

GMH responded with strong goalie play by Brian Dougherty (12 saves) helped stave off the comeback attempt. Ryan Cranston, Jim Bruder and Brian Neary each scored two goals to lead the offense for GMH.

GMH advanced to the conference championship by beating the Boston Crabs, 10-5, in Saturday’s ALL semifinal. Cranston led the attack with three goals while Michael Holloway and Mike Morsell each scored a pair.
