Manheim Township, which has reached the state boys’ lacrosse semifinals in each of the past three years, recently saw three of its seniors sign National Letters of Intent to play Division I lacrosse.
Midfielder Rob Wentz and attackman Quint Miller each signed with Jacksonville, a second-year program that will play this year in the MAAC. Also, attackman/midfielder Alex Bradbury has signed with Bucknell,
Last year the Blue Streaks went 22-5 and fell to eventual state champion Conestoga, 13-4, in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) semis. The year before Manheim fell to eventual state champ La Salle in the PIAA semifinals and the in 2008 Manheim Township bowed to La Salle, 7-4, in the state finals (final Keystone Cup).
Also from Manheim, defenseman Michael Rivera has signed with Division II Seton Hill and midfielder Mark Stratton has committed to Ursinus.
For the girls, Manheim Township senior midfielder/attack Molly Curcio has committed to St Joseph’s. Also, her Blue Streaks teammate, junior midfielder Devon Schneider, has committed to Florida.
Florida is coached by former Temple great and Spring-Ford alum Amanda O’Leary. Schneider played for the Philly team in the Under Armour Underclassmen games last summer and helped Manheim Township give Springfield-Delco a scare in the PIAA semifiinals.
Schneider’s commitment was reported by Lancaster Intelligencer lacrosse beat writer Matt Blymier in his regular blog.
Also, Penn Manor senior attack Maddy Hess has committed to Virginia Tech, and Hempfield midfielder/defender Katie Bupp has committed to Brown.
