Champ Camp recap: Four-time defending champion Duke’s LC, four other Philly teams win openers

Five Philly club teams claimed victories in their first games Thursday at the Champ Camp Tournament at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.

The four-time defending champion and Group A top seed Duke’s Lacrosse Club opened with a 17-1 victory over Blue Mountain Select. The Duke’s 2 squad handled the Rhino Rising Seniors, 14-2.

Group D top seed Twist Black zapped the Zingos, 15-3. Group G top seed HEADstrong Elite toppled Select Lax Red, 5-2. Also, Mesa Fresh 2011 downed Syracuse, 11-3.

Three Philly teams lost in the first round. Springfield-Delco fell to MadLax Juniors Blue, 6-5 and Twist Silver fell to Got Skillz, 18-2, while HEADstrong Young Guns dropped a 9-5 decision to FuZe Blue.

Pool play continued this morning.
