Cabrini men’s lacrosse head coach Steve Colfer will serve as the head coach of the Bermuda Men’s National Team at the 2010 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships.

The 2010 FIL World Championships begin Thursday at Manchester, England, and run through July 24.

Colfer’s Bermuda squad is one of 30 teams to qualify for a shot at the world title. The Bermuda Men’s National Team is one of four teams in the Yellow Division, joining Denmark, Finland and Poland. Bermuda opens Friday against Poland at 9 a.m.

Colfer became involved with the Bermuda team in a consulting role before taking the reins as the club’s head coach in January 2009. Former Cabrini men’s lacrosse head coach Pat Scarpello will serve as Colfer’s assistant coach at the FIL World Championships.

Bermuda is making its second consecutive appearance at the FIL World Championships in 2010. The Bermuda National Team debuted at the world tournament in 2006.

Colfer completed his 10th season at the helm of the Cavaliers in 2010. Cabrini claimed its 10th straight Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth consecutive season. Colfer owns a 138-37 career mark with the Blue & White.
