Mountain Lakes (N.J.) junior defenseman Tyler Batesko has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Lehigh University.

Mountain Lakes junior defenseman Tyler Batesko has committed to Lehigh

Batesko helped Mountain Lakes finish 15-3 last year. He plans to study business at Lehigh, coached by Kevin Cassese.

“Lehigh was a great fit for me overall,” Batesko said. “The coaches were very easy to talk to and they were big into the family atmosphere.

“Throughout the recruiting process that was one thing I was really looking for. Lehigh is also a prestigious academic school, which was another big factor in my decision.”

Batesko, an Honor Roll student every marking period, also considered Notre Dame, Ohio State, Bucknell, and Georgetown.

This past summer he played at Nike Blue Chip, Top 205, and Maverik Showtime, where he was chosen to play in the all-star game.

Batesko said Mountain Lakes will again be a New Jersey Group 1 power.

“Every year at Mountain Lakes we have the opportunity to compete for the state championship,” he said. “Unfortunately last year we fell short of our mark. This upcoming year looks very promising.”
