Central Bucks South senior attack Kelly Hamilton has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division II lacrosse at Lock Haven University.
Hamilton was a Second Team Suburban One Continental Conference pick last year when she collected 34 goals and 32 assists. She plays club lacrosse for Ultimate Goal.
Hamilton is one of four Philly girls to sign with Lock Haven, the two-time defending Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference champion and an NCAA semifinalist each of the past two years.
Others that have signed with Lock Haven are Unionville attack Jill Murray, Bishop Shanahan defender Leah Peppelman and Souderton defender Melinda Wojt.
“I wasn’t considering them until my club coach told me about the school,” Hamilton said. “I talked to them and went on my official. Coach Kristen Selvage is really nice and the girls on the team are awesome. I also thought the school was pretty.”
Hamilton will major in Grade 4-to-8 education and special education. “I really like working with kids and I enjoy Social Studies.”
Hamilton, a High Honors student, also enjoys winning – something Lock Haven does well (49-10 in last three years).
“I really look forward to that because I like to win,” she said. “I am very competitive, and being on a team that is very experienced will teach me a lot. I am looking forward to it.”
Hamilton, who also plays field hockey at CB South, expects her team to improve in 2011.
“I think we’ll do better than last year,” she said. “This year we have a lot of talented seniors and a lot of four-year players. I think we’ll be able to work together and win a few more games.”
