Sun Valley defenseman Eric Johnsen has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Neumann University.

Sun Valley's Eric Johnsen has committed to Neumann

Johnson was a contributor on a Vanguards team that went 9-9 last year. He plans to major in Nursing at Neumann.

“I chose Neumann because I know a lot of the players on the team, and they feel it’s a good program with great coaches,” said Johnsen, an honors student. “Also, I wanted to go to a program where I could contribute my skills for all four years of college. Finally it’s close to home.”

Johnsen, an Honors student, expects Sun Valley to be a factor in the Ches-Mont League race in 2011.

“My expectations for the 2011 season are high,” he said. “As a senior, I feel that my team finally has the weapons and the depth to be a contender in our league.

“But always as a senior, it’s my duty to push my team to get better during the off-season.”
