Mike Chanenchuk has withdrawn from Princeton University for the spring semester and will not be playing lacrosse for the Tigers during the 2011 season.

Chanenchuk was the unanimous 2010 Ivy League Rookie of the Year and a unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection – becoming the first Princeton midfielder to be first-team All-Ivy League as a freshman – after setting the school freshman record with 28 goals. He also had eight assists for 36 points, third-best on the team.

At season’s end, he was named a second-team All-America.

Chanenchuk, a graduate of Long Island power St. Anthony’s, missed the 2009 school year with a back injury, and he suffered a broken collarbone in Princeton’s fall game against Georgetown. The injury required surgery this past November.

Princeton – guided by former Drexel coach Chris Bates – went 11-5 last year and won the first Ivy League tournament championship. The Tigers fell to Notre Dame in the opening round of the NCAA tournament.
