Wyoming Seminary senior attackman/midfielder Patrick McMullan, of Easton, has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Woming Seminary's Patrick McMullan of Easton has committed to RIT

McMullan was scored 86 as a three-year starter for the Knights. Last year he collected 41 goals and 18 assists. Also a two-way starter on the football field at running back/wide receiver, he plays club lacrosse for IAS Select.

McMullan plans to study Biomedical Engineering for RIT, which went 14-6 and reached the NCAA quarterfinals last year.

“I chose the school because of the perfect balance between academics and athletics,” he said. “I want to become a Biomedical Engineer, and compared to the other schools I was looking at, RIT just made sense.

“The campus and academic atmosphere was so welcoming, and they have a great sense of pride in their exceptional athletics. The co-op programs, as well as its Engineering department speak for themselves. Also, the guys on the team were a great group of kids, and they all shared common goals in terms of athletics and academic success.’

McMullan also liked the coaching staff at RIT

“Coach Jake Coon also got me hooked onto the school,” he said. “He turned the program into an even more well-respected program than it already was. In one year he was able to have the team advance to the Quarterfinals in the NCAA tournament.

“He also pushed to have RIT into the Liberty League conference, so I will be able to play competitive teams week in a week out. I also wanted to go to a school where I could play both attack and midfield.”

McMullan wished to thank his mother, father, brothers and sisters, and John Furgele, a close friend, for always being there. He also cited Jeff Coulson, his club coach, for helping him throughout the recruitment process.
