Penn Charter senior midfielder Tyler White has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Dickinson College.
White was a First Team Inter-Ac League pick last year when he scored 45 goals for the Quakers, who went 10-10 overall. White, who has played club lacrosse for Rebel Elite, also competed last June in the Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association Showcase.
White becomes the third Philly senior to commit to Dickinson; the others are Malvern Prep midfielder Colin Farrell and St. Joseph’s Prep attackman Brad James.
White, undecided on a major, liked the size of the campus at Carlisle and the team’s success in 2010 when the Red Devils went 15-3 under coach Dave Webster and spent much of the year ranked in the nation’s Top 10.
“I liked the town of Carlisle,” said White. “It’s small. And I liked coach Webster. I’m excited about the team. They had a great year last year and they have a lot of Philly recruits coming in.”
White considered Division I Drexel, but wanted the chance to contribute right away.
He also has high expectations for his senior year at Penn Charter, which returns a strong nucleus, including senior attackman Joey Sankey (North Carolina recruit).
“It’s been a while since we had this talent and experience,” he said. “We’ve been very young the last couple of years.
“We have a lot of senior leadership.”
