Women’s recruits: Abington’s Cox (Gettysburg), Hill School’s Witter (Washington & Lee), Boyertown’s Shade (Cabrini), Johnson (Drew) & Kochey (Messiah)

These Philly women from the Class of 2010 are playing Division III college lacrosse:

*Abington midfielder/attack Courtney Cox will play at Gettysburg. Cox scored 76 goals last year and earned US Lacrosse Academic All-American and First Team Suburban One National Conference honors for a team that shared the league title and advanced to the second round of the District 1 tournament.

*Hill School attack Greta Witter will play at Washington & Lee. Witter earned US Lacrosse Academic All-American and Mid-Atlantic Prep honors for a Blues team that went 11-5.

Witter also was been named the winner of the 2010 Greater Pottstown Foundation Shandy Hill Scholarship Essay Contest, which was open to high school seniors who were encouraged to write about some aspect of life and/or progress in the Pottstown area. Witter wrote about how Pottstown affected her life through her philanthropic involvement in the community.

*Boyertown defender Jordan Shade will play at Cabrini. Shade was a First Team Pioneer Athletic Conference pick for the Bears (16-5), who won the league title and and advanced to the second round of District 1 play.

*Also from Boyertown, midfielder Jessica Johnson will play at Drew and attack Sam Kochey will play at Messiah.
