Penn Charter senior goalie Meghan Curtin has signed a National of Intent to play Division 1 lacrosse at Lafayette College.

Curtin received Academic-All-American and All-Inter-Ac Honorable Mention in the 2009 season. She also was a tri-captain and received All-Inter-Ac Honorable Mention for field hockey. Academically, she has received high honors in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades.

“I chose Lafayette because I think it will be a great fit academically and athletically,” said Curtin. “I am interested in majoring in either Chemistry or Biochemistry.I would like to become a Forensic Scientist.”

Curtin noted the positive direction of the lacrosse program at Lafayette under the guidance of Ali Fisher, a Hatboro-Horsham graduate and former Lafayette great.

“I am excited to have her as my coach,” said Curtin. “I have known [her] since I was in 9thgrade. She runs Ultimate Goal Lacrosse along with founder Michelle DeJulius [and] I have been able to work with her at a few Ultimate practices and clinics.”

During her official visit, Curtin said that she meshed with the girls on team and the other recruits. She follows her cousin and Penn Charter grad, Lauren Ingersoll, currently a senior captain for the Leopards. She also will join her Ultimate Goal Lacrosse club teammate, Central Bucks West senior Tori Ueland and Springside School’s Lindsay Yang.

Although Penn Charter graduated seven seniors in 2009, Curtin is hopeful for the coming season. The Quakers also return Division I recruit Kellie Ragg (Princeton).

“I expect our team to be competitive in the league,” Curtin said. “We have strong players returning along with the rising underclassmen that should give us a balanced team.”
