West Chester’s Crouse (Boyertown) named IWLCA, womenslacrosse.com Division II All-American

West Chester University senior defender Katy Crouse (Boyertown) was named to the first team All-America squad by womenslacrosse.com it was announced earlier this week. Teammates Claire Grimwood and Lauren Tatios (West Chester East) were picked for the second team squad.

Crouse, who was named an IWLCA All-American this week as well, led West Chester (19-2) to a national runner-up performance this spring after falling to Adelphi, 17-7, in the national championship game this past weekend.

Also named to the IWLCA All-American first-team squad was senior attack Allison Berger (Springfield-Montco) of Lock Haven. Berger helped the Eagles reach the Division II national semifinals.

Crouse started all 21 games for the Golden Rams, scoring nine goals, including one game-winner. She led the Rams in ground balls with 78, draw controls with 56 and caused turnovers with 60. The senior finished her career with 212 ground balls, 155 draw controls and 167 caused turnovers. West Chester racked up an overall record of 72-7 during her four-year career and were undefeated within conference play (48-0) during that same span.

Crouse was an integral part of West Chester’s 2008 national championship squad while leading the Golden Rams to the national title game three out of her four years in school. She scored 23 goals in her career and assisted on nine others, finishing with 32 career points from her position on defense.

Crouse was a three-time first team All-PSAC selection in her career and was a two-time first team All-South Region pick as well.

Grimwood tied for the team lead in goals scored with 50 while finishing second in scoring with 66 points. She led the PSAC in game-winning goals with seven.

Tatios who was a co-captain of the Golden Rams along with Crouse, registered two assists, offensively, in 21 games. However, it was her defense and clearing ability that proved to be so vital to West Chester’s success this spring. She scooped up 61 ground balls on the year and caused 39 turnovers. Tatios marked the opposition’s top offensive threat each game.
