Strath Haven senior midfielder Sean Walsh has committed to play at Division III power Roanoke University.
Walsh was named the Nick Colleluori Award winner (spirit and determination) for the Panthers at the HEADstrong Rivalry games in April.
Walsh, who has been on the Honor Roll every semester and has a 3.75 GPA, is a two-year starter who has played club lacrosse for Tomahawk and competitive edge.
Walsh, a defensive middie, chose Roanoke for its business school, location (Salem, Va.) and coaching staff. The Maroons are currently 15-2 and ranked No. 5 in the nation.
“‘I liked the location and setting at Roanoke,” Walsh said. “It has nice prestige in lacrosse and the coaches were great. I think I will fit in academically and athletically.
“I like the position of defensive middie and being a role player. A lot of people don’t like that, but I like defense more than offense.”
