Women’s wrap: Christy (Conestoga) lifts Stanford; Sicinski (Downingtown West) sparks Robert Morris

Senior midfielder Julie Christy (Conestoga) had a brilliant all-around game today to spark host Stanford to an 11-10 overtime victory over Ohio State in a battle of Top 20 women’s teams.

Christy had two goals, one assist, three groundballs, two draw controls and three caused turnovers as the 15th-ranked Cardinal improved to 2-2.

Ohio State, ranked No. 19, fell to 2-2 despite brilliant efforts by All-American Kelly Haggerty (Unionville) and sophomore Gabby Capuzzi (Archbishop Carroll). Haggerty had two goals, two assists a groundball and a draw control while Capuzzi collected four goals, three groundballs, a draw control and a caused turnover.

Robert Morris 10, Bucknell 8

Courtney Sicinski (Downingtown West) notched four goals to lift RM (1-1) to the win. Defender Ashley St. John (Conestoga) had two caused turnovers while Allie Mongan (Villa Maria Academy) had a draw control and a groundball for the Bison (1-3).

Penn State 17, Colgate 7

Mary Dean (Cheltenham) had four assists, defender Jackie Eastman (Springfield-Delco) had four groundballs and a caused turnover and Stephanie Ellis (Radnor) made four saves while allowing just four first-half goals as the Nittany Lions improved to 3-1.

Hallie Snyder (Episcopal Academy) had three groundballs and fellow freshman defender Beasley Hays (Radnor) had a groundball, one draw control and one caused turnover for Colgate (1-2).

North Carolina 18, Florida 5

Emily Garrity (Strath Haven) had two goals, one assist, four caused turnovers and two groundballs to help the Tar Heels (5-0) deal the Gators (2-1) their first loss.

Northwestern 17, California 3

Colleen Magarity (Germantown Academy) had two groundballs and a draw control as the visiting Wildcats (3-0, Ranked No. 1) took their 32nd straight win.

Columbia 18, Monmouth 13

Megan Brennan (Archbishop Carroll) had four goals, three assists and three draw controls for Monmouth (0-2) in a losing cause.

Denver 18, Mt. St. Mary’s 2

Ashley Harman (Boyertown) made five saves and defender Kelsey McDowell (Penn Charter) had two caused turnovers and a groundball as Denver improved to 4-2.

William and Mary 15, Oregon 13

Emily Geary (Radnor) made 12 saves in the cage and Kyrstin Mackrides (Villa Maria Academy) had one goal, one assist and a groundball for the No. 17 Tribe (2-1).
