The Robert Morris University women’s lacrosse team, led by sophomore Courtney Sicinski (Downingtown West), was selected fourth in the 2010 Northeast Conference women’s lacrosse preseason coaches’ poll. The Colonials ended the 2009 season with their first winning record in program history (9-8) and best finish in league play (5-3) to finish tied for fourth, missing a spot in the league tournament by just one win.

Two-time defending NEC champion Sacred Heart tallied five first-place votes as the preseason favorite to win the conference, finishing just ahead of Monmouth, which earned three top votes. 2009 NEC runner-up Quinnipiac grabbed the third spot with two first-place votes, while Robert Morris landed fourth. Mount St. Mary’s and Wagner earned the fifth and sixth spot, respectively. Long Island, Bryant, Central Connecticut State and Saint Francis (Pa.) rounded out the field.

Robert Morris returns 15 letterwinners, including RMU’s second leading scorer from last season, Sicinski and senior goalie Erica Webb (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck). Sicinski earned three NEC Rookie of the Week awards in 2009 and posted 48 points on 27 goals and 21 assists. She was ranked fifth in the NEC with 2.75 assists per game on a team that was ranked second in the league for goals per game. Webb started all 17 games for the Colonials and was ranked fourth in the league with a 10.95 GAA and a .508 save percentage.

The Colonials open up the 2010 season on Friday, Feb. 19, when they travel to Annapolis, Md. to take on Navy at 7:00 p.m.
