Junior midfielder John Gibbons and defenseman Chase Whittingham of California power St. Ignatius Prep will be participating in the inaugural Philly Lacrosse Showcase on Nov. 21 at Episcopal Academy.

The recruiting event, open to all sophomores, juniors and seniors, will feature 320 of the top scholastic players from the Philadelphia region and beyond. Each player has been assigned to one of 16 teams that will play in at least three games each in the morning in front of as many as 100 college coaches.

After the morning session, “Fab Forty” all-star teams will be chosen by the tournament directors. These top 40 players will then play in three afternoon all-star games, according to class.

Gibbons was rated No. 5 by Westsidelax.com in its 2009 preseason rankings of the top players in Western United States and Canada. Gibbons was ranked at No. 13. St. Ignatius Prep was 21-1 last year and considered the de facto California Interscholastic Federation Central Coast section champion.
