Brian Christopher has earned the nickname of “Mr. Clutch.”

The Johns Hopkins senior from Springfield-Delco scored his third goal of the game 36 seconds into overtime to lift the hist Blue Jays to a 12-11 victory over Brown Saturday in a men’s Division I NCAA first-round victory.

The game-winner was the third for Christopher in OT in the past 17 days. The win advanced the eighth-ranked Blue Jays (10-4) into the quarterfinals against today’s Virginia-Villanova winner.

Hopkins’ Matt Dolente (took 13 of 24 face-offs; Malvern Prep) won the draw to open overtime, and the Jays called timeout. Hopkins worked the ball around the cage and up top to Christopher, who swept right off a pick. The Bears did not slide to Christopher, who wound up and buried the game-winner on goalie Jordan Burke.

Kyle Wharton (Haverford School) added two goals and two assist for the Blye Jays.

Cornell 11, Hofstra 8

Michael Colleluori (Ridley) had two goals and an assist in a losing effort as the Pride fell to the Big Red. All-Ivy League defender Matt Moyer (Chadds Ford, Tower Hill, DE) scored once for Cornell.
