Kelly White has been named the head girls’ coach at Pennsbury, the school announced.
White served as the JV coach for the Falcons in 2009. She also served as an assistant varsity coach at Cheltenham 1999-2001.
White is a 1993 graduate of Upper Dublin and helped West Chester win three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships.
White, who has worked with Pennsbury School District as a full-tem social worker for nearly two years, replaces Andrea Garberina. Garberina, who resigned during the summer, took the program from club level to varsity and compiled a 51-76 record in seven seasons.
“My experience has always been to (focus on) defense,” she said. “My philosophy will be (for the players) to go back to basics; draw control, groundball control, possessions, while making good decisions with our passes.”
White also will preach hard work and teamwork.
“I want our stick skills and passing to improve,” she said. “I also want our kids to mesh together as a team. I like all-our hustle and for kids to give 100 percent on the field.
“I’m big on discipline and respect, not only for the coach, but for your teammates.”
