College wrap: Neumann men win first; Gwynedd Mercy women triumph

    The Neumann College men’s lacrosse team won its first game of the season Thursday by rallying past non-conference foe Hood College.

    Justin Mailloux and Dominic Collichio each netted three goals for Neumann and Kyle Gardner (Perkiomen School) and James McCauley had two goals apiece. Jake Boulay had 21 saves in net.

    Hood led, 11-10, midway through the fourth quarter, but Mailloux netted a big goal with 4:19 remaining to tie the game. He scored again to put Neumann up by one with 2:15 left on the clock. Gardner netted his second goal of the game with 11 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Knights.


Division II


    Maryanne Glass had three goals for Chestnut Hill (5-4).

Dominican 20, Holy Family 12

    Jennifer James (Little Flower) and Gina Mansi scored four goals each for Holy Family (0-8).

Division III

Gwynedd Mercy 16, Moravian 15

    Victoria Geppert (Pennridge) scored the game-winner late in the contest and Colleen Dellostretto (Upper Moreland) scored six goals while Kristie Pollock (Unionville) had three goals and three assists and Kerri Boon (Interboro) added three goals and two assist to power the Griffins (7-3).

    Jillian Pagliei (Council Rock North) led Moravian (5-5) with five goals and Paige Warbrick (Souderton) had two.

Ursinus 20, Bryn Mawr 1

    Emily Diehl and Lindsey Urban (Central Bucks East) each scored three goals to help the Bears (2-8, 1-3) claim the Centennial Conference win and snap an eight-game losing streak.

Scranton 16, Neumann 6

    Madelyn Sminkey (Springfield-Delco) scored two goals to lead Scranton. Gabby D’Ambrosio and Alex Bohen (Upper Merion) each scored twice for Neumann (3-8).

College of New Jersey 15, Cabrini 2

    The Cavaliers (5-3) fell to the No. 2 team in the nation

Alvernia 19, Cedar Crest 4

    Sarah George (Bayard Rustin) collected six goals and two assists and Felicia Sippel (St. Hubert) had five goals and an assist to lead Alvernia (7-2).

Messiah 16, Susquehanna 5

    Rachel Dirksen (Abington) had two goals and four assists to lead Messiah (6-3).
