College wrap: Carroll grads lead Monmouth past Villanova

    Megan Brennan (Archbishop Carroll) had two goals and two assists while goalie Monica Johnson (Archbishop Carroll) made eight saves Sunday to help host Monmouth (1-5) claim its first win of the year, a 15-12 women’s lacrosse defeat of Villanova.

    Erica Rybinski had four goals and two assists for the Wildcats (1-4) while Taryn McKenna added four goals and an assist and Carly Miller had three goals and an assist.

Albany 15, Temple 8

    Mel Rorie (North Penn) notched a hat trick for Albany (2-5). Rorie has 13 goals and four assists and is second on the team in scoring. Melissa Schweitzer (Owen J., Roberts), Lauren Fisher and Keelin Hood (Great Valley) all had two goals apiece for the Owls (0-5).   

Men

Penn State 7, Vermont 5

     Rob Forster (La Salle) and Brian Shea scored two goals apiece and Jack Forster (La Salle) had a goal an assist as the Nittany Lions won their third straight game. Chris Mulqueen (Downingtown East) also scored once and Drew Adams (Springfield-Delco) made nine saves for Penn State (3-3).

Maryland 13, Bryant 6

    Sophomore defender Brett Schmidt (Upper Dublin) had four caused turnovers and two groundballs to help the Terps (5-2) cruise.

Division III

Williams 10, Bates 2

    Sam Hargrove (Strath Haven) scored once to help Williams (1-2) earn its first win.
