Brandywine (DE) senior midfielder Kallie McCormick has committed to play Division I lacrosse at Old Dominion University.
McCormick, who plays club lacrosse for the Philly-based Phantastix, is a three-sport standout at Brandywine who also excels at field hockey and basketball. She plans to sign a National Letter of Intent during the early-signing period, which ends Wednesday
McCormick has earned Delaware All-State honors the past two years. She was a first-team all-Blue Hen Conference performer as a junior when she led the Bulldogs to a 13-4 record and a berth in the playoffs. Last year she collected 47 goals and 44 assists, and also earned selection to the National Honor Society.
At ODU, McCormick will play for head coach Sue Stahl. Stahl is a graduate of Upper Darby and Ursinus College and the former assistant coach at Temple.
“When I visited, I had a great feeling about it,” said McCormick, who has played two years for the Phantastix. “I liked the coaches, and the girls were very nice.”
Two other seniors from Philly have committed to Old Dominion: Conestoga’s Theresa Brady and Boyertown’s Emily Austerberry.
McCormick said Brandywine will be in a rebuilding mode next spring, but remains optimistic.
“We lost a lot of our defense and we’ll have a new goalie,” she said. “But we will be pretty solid.”
