Boys’ wrap: L. Merion downs Haverford; Downingtown East, WC East earn Ches-Mont wins

Matt Dilks fired in seven goals and added two assists while Andrew Mongeluzzi added four goals and two assists to lead host Lower Merion to a 17-5 triumph over Haverford High Wednesday in Central League boys’ lacrosse action.

Jordan Wolf added a goal and four assists for LM (6-4, 3-3) while Sam Golden had 11 groundballs and won over 80 percent of his face-offs.

Strath Haven 7, Ridley 5

Mark Dolphin, Dave Alyanakian and Mike Varga had two goals each for the Panthers in ther Central League win. Sean McGraw also scored once. Mike Greco and Kevin Garling had two tallies each for Ridley and Pat Zimmerman scored one.

Garnet Valley 8, Penncrest 7

Ricky Lehman scored the game-winner and had two goals to pace the Jaguars. Mike Montella and Steve Selverian also had two each for GV while Craig Kashner led Penncrest with a hat trick and Mike Belfiglio had a pair.

Downingtown East 8, Downingtown West 3

Shane Sturgis had two goals and an assist and Kenny Maas added a goal and two assists to spark the Cougars (10-2 overall) to the Ches-Mont League win, keeping them undefeated (6-0) in league play.

West Chester East 16, Bishop Shanahan 4

Matt Maday had five goals and one assist while Chris McCormick had four goals and two assists and Matt Biegel added three goals and one assist for the Vikings (9-1, 4-1) in their Ches-Mont win. Ben Tuscai had two goals and three assists and Andrew Protenic had two goals and two assists for East. Mike Thompson, Keegan Lawton, Peter Marion and Ryan Soulas had one goal each for the Eagles.

Owen J. Roberts 9, Methacton 8

Greg Nester scored two goals, Charlie Stein had the game-winner and six others had a goal each as the Wildcats (13-1, 10-0) remained perfect in the Pioneer Athletic Conference. Kohl Batdorf had two assists for OJR. Methacton got two goals each from Dave Beccatini and Ryan Kelly.

Spring-Ford 14, Perkiomen Valley 8

Tyler Novotny scored seven goals to pace the Rams to the Pioneer Athletic Conference win.

Boyertown 4, Phoenixville 3

Zack Teator had two goals and Mike Straface made 14 saves as the Bears edged the Phantoms in a PAC-10 game. Matt Talarico scored two goals for Phoenixville.

St. Joseph’s Prep 15, Monsignor Bonner 0

Brad James had four goals and three assists and Cory Schuerle added two goals and two assists while Brendan Glynn had two goals and an assist for the Hawks (6-0, 2-0) in their Catholic League win. Mike Zikoski, Andrew Coyle and Liam Correia combined for the shutout in goal.

Lansdale Catholic 20, North Catholic 6

Liam Malley collected six goals and five assists and Patrick White had three goals and three assists while Devon Barrett had three goals to lead LC (9-1, 2-0) to its Catholic League win.

Mac Gallagher had three goals and Julius Mouser had two goals and three assists while Matt Gagnier and Justin Miller each scored twice to lead the Gators (8-3, 1-0) to the Friends’ Schools League win.

Gore Kamara notched his first career goal on a full field clear that he turned into a fastbreak goal. Arne Andersen, Will Strathmann, Pat Sullivan Brad Harris and Mike Gagnier led the defense while face-off specialist Nate Kuntz dominated between the lines. Jack Tanenbaum had four saves and did not allow a goal in three quarters while Andrew Mason turned away four shots in the final quarter.

Peddie (NJ) 9, Hill School 8

Eric Davidheiser and David Brown paced the Blues with two goals and two assists each while goalie Tyler Himes made 12 saves for the Blues in their Mid-Atlantic Prep League loss.

Moravian Academy 9, New Hope-Solebury 8, OT

The Lions scored twice in the final 2:30 of regulation before bowing in overtime. Kevin Fabrizio and Matt Allegretto each had hat tricks for NHS while Carter Robinson and John Cimbalista each scored once. Alex Coleman had three assists while Alec Sentell and Seamus Foster contributed assists. Heffernan finished the day with 9 saves on 18 shots, Sutton, Carvalho, Kaufelds anchored the close defense while Gregory and Matt Reilly did an excellent job at the midfield.

Wissahickon 13, Norristown 0

Shane Ziegler had four goals and two assists and Garrett Rosiek scored three while Sean Smith made five saves as the Trojans (7-5, 6-2) earned the Suburban One American shutout.

Dan Bohon scored scored the game-winner with 19 seconds left and Tim Golder tallied four goals to give Avon Grove (4-1, 8-3) the Ches-Mont win. Ethan Heisman notched four goals for Henderson.
