Bajkowski, Wittorff, to be inducted into Drexel Hall of Fame Sunday

    Walter “Sonny” Bajkowski and, who led the nation in assists his senior year, and football/lacrosse standout William D. Wittorff will be inducted with four others and a Men’s Basketball Era of Champions team into the Drexel University Hall of Fame Sunday.

    Bajkowski, an attackman, was named Honorable Mention All-America in 1972 when he was team captain and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Player of the Year. He finished his career with 158 points and is fourth all-time at Drexel with 99 assists in only three seasons.   

    Bajkowski graduated as Drexel’s career leader in assists and points and still holds record for assists in a game. He led the 1972 team to a record of 11-3 overall and 8-1 in the MAC.

     Wittorff was an offensive lineman on the gridiron, and was named a 1963 Williamson’s Little All-American Honorable Mention and a two-time All-MAC selection. On the lacrosse field, Wittorff was also a Second Team All-League pick.

    The induction ceremony will be held on Drexel’s campus at the George D. Behrakis Grand Hall. The other inductees are Tammy Kratz (softball), Jen MacNeill (basketball) and Mike Serban (soccer). Pat Delsi (broadcasting) will receive the Athletics Director Legacy Award and the Sam Cozen led championship teams from 1953-1967 will also be inducted as the Era of Champions selection.

    The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the lunch and induction ceremony to follow. The 2009 Hall of Fame inductees will be introduced at halftime of the Drexel men’s basketball game versus Towson at 3 p.m.
