From Press Releases

Seniors Amanda Makoid (Archbishop Wood) and Lisa Schaaf (Perkiomen Valley) will be joined by senior Alyssa Romano as tri-captains for the American University women’s lacrosse team in 2010. Also, sophomore Lauren Schoenberger has been appointed associate captain of the squad.
Makoid, an All-Patriot League Second Team honoree in 2009, scored 25 goals and had five assists in the season. The 2009 tri-captain’s 30 points was good for second most on the team. The midfielder from Doylestown started all 16 contests in 2009, and has 45 career starts in her three seasons.
Like Makoid, Schaaf was named a tri-captain for the second straight season. The Collegeville, Pa., native did not appear in 2009 due to injury. She has appeared in 26 career games at attacker for the Eagles, scoring 10 goals.

Romano, a defender from Baldwin, N.Y., was also an All-Patriot League performer last year. She recorded a team-high 24 caused turnovers in 2009, and collected 20 groundballs. Romano started all 15 games in which she appeared in during the 2009 campaign, and has started in all 51 contests that she played during her career at American.
Additionally, Schoenberger was named the associate captain for 2010. The attacker from Penfield, N.Y., was third on the team with 19 goals and 23 total points in 2009. She appeared in all 16 games, including seven starts.
“Lisa, Amanda, and Alyssa have been great leaders for this program and I’m excited for them to be in this role for their senior year. Lauren was a great leader as a freshmen and this will be a tremendous experience for her this season,” remarked American Head Coach Katie Woods. “All of them are extremely hard workers and want to take this program to a new level. They’ve been great this fall and I’m looking forward to seeing how they do during the 2010 season.”
