The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association announced that Franklin & Marshall’s Jen Pritchard (Penncrest) and Shannon Summers (Hill School) have been named the Division III Players of the Year at their respective positions.
The awards were given Saturday night at the annual All-American banquet in King of Prussia at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge.
Pritchard (attack) and Summers (midfield) led the Diplomats to the NCAA Division III title for the second time in three years. Pritchard also was recently named the Honda Division III Player of the Year.
Pritchard, the 2009 NCAA Tournament MVP, ends her career having scored in the final 69 games of her career, an NCAA record. Pritchard scored in 83 of her 84 career games, scoring 268 times, 47 more times than the previous record holder at F&M. She wrapped her career with 320 total points, resetting that school record as well. Pritchard holds the NCAA record for career goals in the tournament (53) and in a single tournament (19 in 2007). In 2009 she had 68 goals and 13 assists and collected 53 draw controls.
Summers, of North Wales, collected 104 points (39 goals, 65 assists) in 2009, falling two points shy of the school record. Summers set the career mark at F&M for assists (150) and rolled up seven or more points six times, including a stretch of four in five games. She also led the Dips with 73 draw controls and had 28 groundballs.
Both Summers and Pritchard were named first-team IWLCA All-Americans.
