Radnor senior defender Tyler Andersen has signed a national letter of intent to play at Notre Dame University.

Andersen, a first-team All-Central League pick last year, probably could audition for the lead role of “Rudy” with his excitement on attending the historic university from South Bend, Ind.

“When I visited I got the whole experience,” said Andersen, also a standout quarterback for the Red Raiders who considered playing college football. “When I went down there I saw a  football game, and I knew you couldn’t beat it. The whole school revolved around athletics; it’s a great school and absolutely gorgeous.

“There really was no competition at all once I knew they wanted me to play there.”

Andersen said he is undecided on a major, but is impressed with the Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business.

“They have a great business school,” he said. “I’ll see how freshman year goes. I am trying to keep it up in the air.”

Andersen, for now, will focus on the 2009 season. He said Radnor, wirth a strong core of seniors, should make waves m the Central League, and in District 1.

“We are hoping to make a good run,” he said. “It’s our last hurrah to make it count.

“We’re going to make sure everyone plays together. We have a lot of talent, and we want to make sure everyone stays humble to themselves and unselfish.”
