Scholastic roundup: Strath Haven upends Downingtown West

Emily Garrity pumped in seven goals to lead host Strath Haven to a 15-10 victory over Downingtown West Friday in a non-league girls’ game featuring two teams ranked in the Scholastic Girls Top 10 Poll.

Annalise Penikis had three goals and three assists and Alex Duckenfield added three goals for the Panthers (13-3), who are ranked eighth. Danika Ervin was strong in the cage for Strath Haven, making 12 saves in her best game of the season, according to coach Margie Garrity.

Defenders Jamie Johnston, Caroline Murphy, Katy Loughran, Kim McClellan and Clare Sherry turned in key efforts for the Panthers and Duckenfield and Garrity also played key roles on defense.

Sarah Phillips led Downingtown West (14-2) with four goals and Courtney Sicinski had two goals and tree assists for the Whippets, ranked sixth.

Radnor 17, Archbishop Carroll 9

Courtney Campbell tallied six goals to pace No. 1 Radnor (16-0) to a non-league win over the visiting Patriots (10-3). Annie Brophy had four goals for Carroll, ranked seventh.

North Penn 12, Spring-Ford 9

Lauren McDermott had five goals and two assists while Abbie Hartman added three goals as the host Maidens (11-4) downed the Rams (9-5).

Harriton 12, Garnet Valley 6

Carli Sukonik scored six goals to lead the visiting Rams (10-5) to the non-league win. Tori Mitros had three goals for the Jaguars and Leah Dixon, the only player honored on Senior Night, had two goals.

Haverford School 12, Penn Charter 4

Craig Owen, Steve Aitken and Pete Borror scored two goals each to pace the third-ranked Fords (12-4, 6-2) to an Inter-Ac League win over the host Quakers (10-7, 2-5, ranked eighth).

La Salle 13, Archbishop Wood 6

Westy Hopkins scored six goals to pace the No. 1 Explorers (23-2 12-0) to the Catholic League Northern Division win over the visiting Vikings.
