Girls’ lacrosse: Strath Haven downs Conestoga, 8-6

Julie Hayward scored four goals to spark host Strath Haven to an 8-6 victory over Conestoga Thursday in Central League girls’ action.

Emily Garrity added two goals for the Panthers (6-2, 1-1) – ranked seventh by Phillylacrosse.com – while Danika Ervin was brilliant in the cage with 18 saves.

Brooke Campbell led Conestoga (4-2, 2-1) with two goals while Christina Fiorentino added a goal and two assists.

North Penn 18, Central Bucks South 6

Lauren McDermott scored five goals while Danielle Horn and Abbie Hartman added three each to pace visiting Maidens (5-1, 3-0) to the easy Suburban One National win over the Titans (2-6, 1-4).

Abington 17, Pennsbury 3

Rachel Dirksen scored five goals while Kristen Dunphey added four as the fifth-ranked Ghost (6-0, 3-0) swamped the Falcons in the Suburban One National.

Lisa O’Donnell (four caused turnovers), Maddy Evans, Kelly Condon and goalie Alisha Aquilino stood out on defense for Abington, which has allowed just 17 goals all year.

Great Valley 12, Unionville 9

Keelin Hood and Kim Wenger scored four goals each while Emily Ellisen added three as the third-ranked Patriots (5-0, 1-0) claimed a key Ches-Mont American Conference win over the host Indians.

Stephanie Berger made 10 saves for Great Valley while Christina Hahn and Wenger werer defensive standouts. Kristin Brownett had three goals for Unionville (4-3, 0-1) while Kalyn McDonough and Lindsey Smith had two each.

Boys
Malvern Prep 7, Haverford School 5

In a battle of two Inter-Ac League teams ranked among the top three by Phillylacrosse.com, the visiting Friars (7-1, ranked No. 2) topped the Fords (5-4, No. 3) as Chris Layne notched three goals.
