Emily Garrity has picked up right where she left off.
The Strath Haven junior – who entered the season with a whopping 182 career goals – collected five goals and seven assists Tuesday to lead the visiting Panthers to a 20-6 victory over Avon Grove in a non-league season opener.
Annalisa Penikis added three goals and three assists while Courtney DeVinney and Ana White had four goals, and Kelly Ruffini added three for Strath Haven, ranked fifth in the Phillylacrosse.com Scholastic Girls Top 10.
Also Tuesday in girls’ games:
Third-ranked Ridley (2-0) edged visiting Unionville, 8-7, as Steph Markunas scored four goals, including the game-winner with 46 seconds to play. Danielle Abbruzzese had nine saves for the Raiders.
Allie Henry scored five goals and Tori Mitros added four as visiting Garnet Valley held off Interboro, 14-10. Steph Parcell had five goals for the Bucs and Kerri Boon added three. Kelsey Callahan tallied three goals to spark visiting Upper Darby past Penn Wood, 13-6, in another opener. Alyssa Roberts led Penn Wood with five goals.
In boys’ games:
Brett Greer had a hat trick and Brian Hill contributed two goals and two assists to help visiting Ridley (3-0) topple Henderson, 8-6.
Colin Keegan and Josh Cavanaugh had two goals apiece for Springfield-Delco in an 8-7 loss to Emmaus.
